Voluntary Recall Notice of Happy Harvest Canned Spinach Due to Potential Undeclared Peanut Allergen from Product Mislabeling

McCall Farms, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited amount of cases of Happy Harvest Spinach in 13.5 oz cans as a precautionary measure due to the potential presence of peanuts resulting from product mislabeling. This product may cause an allergic reaction in customers who have a peanut allergy.
In cooperation with ALDI, all affected product has been removed from its stores. ALDI is the only retailer with this product. The product was packaged in 13.5 oz cans with the lot code of A23IX. The best-by date is January 2021. The UPC code is 041498131289.
The product was available for purchase in the following states: Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, & West Virginia.
The product was also available for purchase to ALDI customers in the Atlanta & Chicago areas through the company’s partnership with Instacart, a grocery delivery service.
To date, no illnesses related to this product have been reported. No other ALDI or McCall Farms products are affected by this recall.
McCall Farms takes the safety and integrity of all its products very seriously. If consumers have product affected by this voluntary recall, they should discard it immediately or return it to the local ALDI store for a full refund.

Eataly USA Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Walnuts in Artichoke Spread

Eataly USA of New York City, New York is recalling Eataly Artichoke Spread, because it may contain undeclared walnuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Eataly Artichoke Spread was distributed in New York City sold at Eataly Flatiron, located at 200 5th Avenue, New York, 10010.
The product us packed in a plastic container and has a front & back label. The front label says “Eataly artichoke spread” nt wt.7 oz. 200g, UPC: 612067. The back label lists the ingredients & mentions the expiration date of 05.12.
The problem was found by a costumer who is allergic to nuts. He did not encounter any illness, but had a light allergic reaction. The customer declined to fill out the Eataly incident form & just wanted to bring the seriousness of what happened to our attention. Subsequent investigation indicates that the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the packaging process.
Consumer who have purchased the product need to be aware that it contains walnuts as an ingredient. For customer who are not allergic to walnuts, the product is totally safe.

Guixens Food Group Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in La Marinera Brand Dried Yellow Potatoes

Guixens Food Group, Inc., of Miami, FL, is voluntarily recalling its ten-ounce packages of La Marinera Brand Dried Yellow Potatoes because it may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The above-mentioned product was distributed to and available for purchase at retail supermarkets in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, California, & Tennessee.
The affected La Marinera Brand Dried Yellow Potatoes come in a 10-ounce, clear plastic bag marked with “Dried Yellow Potatoes – Papa Seca AmariIla” on the label with an expiration date of July 2018. The product UPC code is 7-42287-73054-5.
No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.
The voluntary recall was initiated after routine sampling by the Florida State Dept. of Agriculture & analysis by food laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the product, which were not declared on the label.

Cookwell & Company Issues Allergy Alert for Undeclared Soy, Wheat & Fish Allergen in Charred Tomato & Basil Sauce with a “Best By” Date of “10 Nov 18”

Cookwell & Company Is voluntarily recalling potentially up to 6,522 units of its Four J Charred Tomato & Basil Sauce because it may contain undeclared soy, wheat and fish. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to these allergens may run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The recalled Four J Charred Tomato & Basil Sauce jars were only distributed in the state of Texas.
The product comes in a 24 oz. glass jar, that is marked with a “BEST BY” date of “10 NOV 18” on the top shoulder of the jar (approximately ½-1” over the label). Please see the attached picture as a reference. The UPC code for the recalled product is: 0 91037 60929 8.
This product was produced on November 10, 2016. No illnesses have been reported to date, there are no other safety concerns for people who do not have a soy, wheat or fish allergy. This recall was voluntarily issued by the company after it discovered that the product was unintentionally mislabeled. Stewart’s Shops Issues Allergy Alert on Pint Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream

Stewart’s Shops Corp. is recalling units of Stewart’s pint Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream because they may have been packaged incorrectly with a “Chocolate” lid.  People who have an allergy to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The affected product was distributed in upstate New York & Southern Vermont.
The Stewart’s pint Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream is packaged in a 16 oz. cardboard container, UPC 0 82086 44468 8. Affected units have a Sell By code date of 08/23/18 which can be found on the bottom of the package.  All other expiration code dates of Stewart’s pint Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream are not affected by this recall.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. For consumers who are not allergic to peanuts, there is no safety issue with this product.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that a Stewart’s pint Chocolate ice cream lid had been found on a Stewart’s pint Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream container.

Advocare Issues Allergy Alert in Select Bottles of Muscle Strength and Nighttime Recovery Product Because of Undeclared Milk Allergen on The Label

AdvoCare International has commenced a voluntary recall of two lots of Muscle Strength & four lots of Nighttime Recovery dietary supplements because they may contain undeclared milk that can elicit an allergic reaction in individuals who are sensitive to milk and milk products.
Individuals who are highly sensitive to milk protein who consumed caplets from these lots may experience symptoms common to a milk allergy including gastrointestinal issues or allergenic skin reactions. Even in those instances involving more intense reactions, any anticipated effects are expected to resolve quickly & typically do not require medical treatment.
Product was distributed nationwide through AdvoCare & our Independent Distributors. Affected product includes 15,640 units of Muscle Strength, Product code: P3221 with lot numbers: 7063341, 7082161, & sold between November 15, 2017 – March 29, 2018 and 48,176 units of Nighttime Recovery, Product code: P3201 lot numbers: 7081841, 7063321, 7052411, 7090471, sold between December 15, 2017 – March 28, 2018.
No reports of adverse events due to a milk allergen had been reported prior to the recall.
As part of a routine formula review, a prospective manufacturer indicated the presence of milk in Ashwagandha, a raw ingredient common to both Muscle Strength & Nighttime Recovery. After AdvoCare was alerted to the possibility of trace amounts of milk in both products, we immediately conducted an investigation & engaged a third-party health hazard evaluation. Aspire Food Group Issues Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in Exo Bars

Aspire Food Group of Austin, TX, is recalling its 60 gram bars of EXO Blueberry Vanilla, Peanut Butter & Jelly, and Apple Cinnamon bars because they may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have a severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled EXO bars were distributed nationwide in retail stores & through mail orders.The product comes in a film wrapper marked with the following lots/Best By dates on the underside of the wrapper.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the apricots used in the products contain sulfur dioxide as a preservative, and the packaging did not reflect the presence of sulfites. Aspire Food Group recently acquired full rights to the Exo brand, including product recipes, from Exo, Inc on February 23, 2018. As part of our audit of Exo, Inc’s recipes, our manufacturing team identified this labeling error. All warehoused products that were manufactured after February 23, 2018 will be reconditioned to declare sulfites. All recalled products manufactured prior to February 23, 2018 will be destroyed, in addition to any product returned from customers regardless of manufacture date.
