Globe Variety Produce, Inc. of Los Angeles, CA is voluntarily recalling Spicy Edamame 7oz, because it contains the undeclared shellfish/crustacean allergen “Oyster Extract” ingredient within the spicy sauce packet. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to shellfish run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Spicy Edamame were distributed through retailers in Arizona, California, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, & Texas.

Caito Foods, LLC Voluntarily Recalls Fresh Cut Melon Products Because of Possible Health Risk

Caito Foods is voluntarily recalling fresh cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and fresh-cut mixed fruit containing one of these melons, produced at the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis, because these products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Use or consumption of products contaminated with Salmonella may result in serious illness. It can also produce serious & sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people & other people with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella can experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream & producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (I am.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis & arthritis.
Reports of illnesses linked to these products are under inquiry, & Caito Foods is voluntarily recalling the products out of an abundance of caution. The company has been advised by the CDC that it has linked 58 illnesses to the strain of Salmonella under inquiry. Caito Foods has ceased producing & distributing these products as the company & FDA continue their inquiry.
The products were packaged in clear, plastic clamshell containers & distributed in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina & Ohio.
Because it is possible that products shipped between April 17 & June 7, 2018 could still be on store shelves, this recall extends to both retailers & consumers.

Shearer’s Foods, LLC Issues an Allergy Alert for Undeclared Milk in Meijer Brand Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips

Shearer’s Foods, LLC of Massillon, OH is recalling Meijer brand 9.5 ounce packages of Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips because they may contain undeclared milk. People who are allergic to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The recalled Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips were distributed to Meijer stores in OH, MI, IN, IL, KY, & WI from April 20, 2018 until May 29, 2018.
The product comes in a 9.5 ounce bag marked with the UPC # 719283594365 & with sell by dates on the package between 07/16/18 & 08/13/18. A total of 2,450 cases were affected. All but 177 cases of the recalled Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips were shipped to Meijer distribution centers.
The remaining cases were caught prior to shipment and are in the process of being destroyed.
The issue was discovered when the family of a consumer who suffered an allergic reaction reported the incident to Meijer. Shearer’s Foods, LLC conducted an investigation which indicated that due to human error, a product containing milk was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk.
Customers who purchased the recalled product from Meijer may dispose of it or return the product to its place of purchase for a full refund. Sanders Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Almonds in Fudge Mini Bites

Sanders announced today that it is recalling its 3.75oz Milk Chocolate Covered Fudge Mini Bites because they may contain undeclared almonds. People who have allergies to almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled 3.75oz Milk Chocolate Covered Fudge Mini Bites were distributed throughout several Michigan retail stores.
The product comes in a 3.75 ounce, gray & black package marked with lot 8109 FL & Best By Date January 31, 2019 ink-jetted on the rear.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Almond-containing product was inadvertently added to a production line which was packaging product that did not contain Almonds.
Other production dates of the product are not affected.

Global Commodities, Inc. of Hicksville, NY is recalling 1lb & 0.5lb packages of WATAN DRY FRUITS Brand Natural Dried Apricot with Pitt, because it contains undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The WATAN DRY FRUITS Brand Natural Dried Apricot with Pitt was distributed from January 2015 to December 2017. The product was distributed at retail stores in New York State.
WATAN DRY FRUITS Brand Natural Dried Apricot with Pitt is packed in clear plastic bags coded with Best Before Date: December 2018. The product is sold in two sizes; NET WT 1 LB, with UPC 088247504666 and .50 LB. The dried apricot is a product of Pakistan.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The undeclared sulfites were found as a result of routine product testing conducted by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Subsequently, inquiry indicated the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production & packaging processes. Production of the product has been suspended until the company is certain that the problem has been corrected.

Divvies, LLC Conducts Voluntary Recall of Benjamint Crunch Chocolate Bars Due to Undeclared Milk In The Mint

Dough-To-Go Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Tree Nuts in Zoe’s Vegan Tuxedo Fudge Cookie

Dough-to-Go of Santa Clara, CA is recalling 20 cases of cookies because they may contain undeclared tree nuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
Zoe’s Cookies are manufactured by Dough-to-Go & were sold to a local foodservice distributor & subsequently distributed to their customers in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The product is a 4oz vegan tuxedo fudge chocolate cookie that is individually wrapped with the Zoe’s brand name & flavor label on the front & the nutritional information and ingredient listing on the back. These are packed 24 to a case & sold with a product label & production code on the outside container. The UPC number on the cookie label is 044964133404 & the lot code of the cases in question is 222620.
To date there has been one reported case of an allergic reaction to the walnuts.
The consumer who suffered the allergic reaction reported the incident to the FDA when it was discovered that the walnuts were not supposed to be in that product as they are not listed on the label as an ingredient or allergen. The reason behind the undeclared tree nut is still unknown and the investigation is ongoing, however, a breakdown in the companies mixing procedures or incorrect labeling is suspected.

New Seasons Market LLC Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg in Mini Butter Croissants & Mini Chocolate Croissants

New Seasons Market LLC is recalling NSM 8-pack mini butter croissants and 8-pack mini chocolate croissants because they contain undeclared egg. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
In addition, mini chocolate croissants are recalled because they contain undeclared soy lecithin.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that products containing egg were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg. Products were slightly sprayed with egg before baking.  
There have been no reports of illness to date.
New Seasons is urging customers with any egg health concerns or allergies to return or dispose of the recalled mini croissants for a full refund. Receipts are not required for the return.
